This week, I created a new website I’m really excited about! It’s called This AirBNB Does Not Exist, and it’s the first time I’ve produced something using AI that I’m actually kind of impressed by.

I’ve been so impressed by it that I have not actually made the time this week to do other things like… write my weekly update on time. Oops.

This week’s videos:

Gadgets

As I mentioned, my big accomplishment this week was my new ThisAirBNBDoesNotExist website. This involved learning about executing neural network models to produce images, Python math libraries, and a whole bunch more. I have so many things I want to write about it, but haven’t really gotten a chance to yet, but this is going to take the place of the effort I was putting towards 3D printing stuff for now, so you can read more on my gadgets blog as I write up more of the process!

Cooking

This week was my first experiment with buying my own food to cook! Overall, it was a success, and I learned a lot in the process. I will be doing some blog write-ups about the experience – both the shopping and the cooking, which will go up on the cooking blog, but haven’t gotten a chance to do that yet. Long story short: I saved a tiny bit of money, and was able to make larger portions – but the shopping experience was definitely not easy!

In the meantime, I’ve continued to put up time lapse videos of my cooking. Currently, I’ve got 1 more Blue Apron meal that I haven’t put up a video of yet, and this week’s meals cooked from my own ingredients, so I’m catching up on my backlog!

This week, I’ll be doing something a bit different – instead of dinner for two, I’ll be doing dinner for four. We’ll see how well that goes. Next week there will be no cooking, as I’m travelling to LA for work.

Overall, I’m continuing to learn new cooking skills and become more comfortable with the ones I’ve got every week, so I continue to be excited about this!

Politics

I wrote up two blog posts last week on my politics blog:

  • Please Read ‘So You Want To Talk About Race’: I have a lot of conversations with thoughtful people about many issues of politics, including racial justice. Oftentimes, I have felt like I’m treading in quicksand in these conversations – not because I feel lost, but because I feel like there’s no good basis on which we’re having the conversation. Over and over, in this book, I found that the words I needed were there.
  • Green New Deal: I had drastically underestimated the extent to which the “Green New Deal” was not a New-Deal for Green, but instead an FDR-style reinvestment in the American people. This isn’t a deal for green, or for energy – this is a new deal for everyone.

Take a read over on the politics blog!

That’s it for me this week! Newsletter will hopefully be on time next week, but we’ll have to see, since I’m travelling for work.
