The last two weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind as a result of the website I mentioned in my last update, This Airbnb Rental Does Not Exist. Hello to the new subscribers to this newsletter! I use this weekly update to try to collect the various creative hobbies that I’m engaging in, which include cooking, social commentary, studying German, and – most interestingly for new folks – general technical hackery.
Last week, I travelled to LA for work, so I had no weekly update and fewer videos than usual. I don’t know if I’m going to catch up this week or not, but we’ll see!
This week, I created a new website I’m really excited about! It’s called This AirBNB Does Not Exist, and it’s the first time I’ve produced something using AI that I’m actually kind of impressed by.
I’ve been so impressed by it that I have not actually made the time this week to do other things like… write my weekly update on time. Oops.
Last week, I spent all week catching up a big backlog of laundry. In the process, I found out that we have way too many sheets for our bed. (I think the problem here is that my tendency to focus on “clothes first, then sheets” means that it often seemed like we were out of sheets, when instead they were just all in the “To be washed” pile – I feel like I did a half dozen loads of just sheets!)
On a more relevant note, I also managed to put out four videos this week! (Saying this makes me feel better about the fact that I was feeling utterly unproductive creatively this week – seems I did more than I thought!)
This week saw freezing cold temperatures across the Midwest, but sadly, I didn’t get to use that as an excuse not to go to work, since it didn’t get nearly so cold here in Boston. On the plus side, I didn’t have to deal with windchills of up to 50 degrees below zero, so I think I’m much happier in my current state. (I can’t even imagine what our leaky 1850s house would have been like under those conditions.)
This week has been a decent week for getting stuff out there for me!
In 2019, I’m going to be changing the way I focus my creative energy: my goal will be to create more things that I can look back on and be proud of what I’ve made. This means that I’m going to be changing up some of what I do regularly, and directing my efforts towards telling more complete and thoughtful stories in 2019.
